Ladies Lemonade is a growing number of women who are looking to meet all the "ladies in the neighborhood". We aim to stay connected with our friends and neighbors who have moved to other neighborhoods in Upper Manhattan. Together we have created a safe place for women to gather where we invite Community Leaders & Women's Health Champions to discuss pressing topics that are unique to women and specifically, women in our community.
Someone recently asked who organizes these gatherings, who is posting about them on instagram? I hope eventually the answer will be "all of us". Below is my response, if it helps you understand the motivation behind these lovely get togethers:
"Hi! ☀️ I had planned to start a ladies gathering and postponed my 1st one when COVID hit, in the spring of 2020. 🍋 In the spring of 2023, I started texting and calling up a bunch of ladies I know in the neighborhood from 6 different buildings... and we all just started inviting more gals to hang out. 💛 xo, Nik"
So, these gatherings are 4 years late, but they couldn’t happen at a better time, especially with all the reports on a “loneliness epidemic” in the news. 😊 I hope you come, I hope you encourage all the ladies who could use encouragement to get outdoors and be social to also come.
This event is for all ages, for us to get to know one another so we can know how to support one another. 💛 Life gave us COVID and I figure I’d take those 3 sour years and turn it into a lemonade social. 😎 "
It would be wrong for me to take credit for these events on my own. When I reached out to to the gals in those 6 buildings - every one of them asked how they could help... and then they showed up. Let's keep showing up for one another. Let's not lose track of one another.
From one woman in this community to another, thank you - and I hope to see you soon!
xo,
Nik

Finding out the best day and time of the week to gather took some trial and error. For the first month, gatherings were scheduled for multiple days a week and almost every weekend. There are 30 women who showed up to almost every gathering. We call these women our "First Ladies" - feisty, fresh & fun. Without our First Ladies we could have fizzled out, they kept the energy up & the hope for "a place where women could feel comfortable discussing ANYTHING" from falling flat. Fresh, fizz, energy... makes me think of Chandra's artisinal lemonade poured over Patricia's refreshing seltzer! 💛
Thank you to our First Ladies. Check back! We will be highlight the women of Ladies Lemonade, starting with the First Ladies & our Women's Health champions.

It doesn't cost much to hang out in the park, but we would like to cover the cost of our website, supplies, posters, etc... also, planning for our Holiday Party at The Morris Jummel-Mansion has begun. Any contribution is appreciated.
